I did this one last year. It would be cool if some BFers got together for the ride this year. Lots of climbing but beautiful views of the Gold Country and Sierra Foothills...

106 miles and 11,000 feet of climbing. Sounds like a tough ride!

Sounds fun and the IOWA HILL TT sounds like a blast too.
I'll have to see if 9/15 is doable for me.

106 miles and 11000 feet of climbing sounds fun to you?! What do you consider torturous?

I am signed up for the "Outlaw" including the TT at Iowa hill. So far I'm rolling solo so meeting up with other BF'ers would be nice. Let's see who else is in and make plans closer to the 15th.

I'm just in awe of you folks that can do these huge climbs! There weren't any climbs like this in TX!

I am seriously considering the Labor Day Ride...now who is seriously considering the Auburn Century? This time the Dauphin doesn't have to drive! I can show you guys a good time! Come on, let's represent NorCal!

Oh man ... you're going to make me decide between this and the Back to the Beach ride the Herb is doing in SoCal?

I got a feeling we will get a large contingent of NorCalers

If I can drag ME up here, it's up to you to hire her, to keep her here.

something tells me ME would be a hard sell, although I think she would absolutely love it.

It wasn't very hot at all last year. It would be cool to get some of the SoCal folks to come up for the ride.

ok....we need some folks to be in this one...

Bump...

Just a friendly reminder that Early Registration (http://www.auburncentury.com/register.html) ends today. If you want to get in on a great ride with some hills, then I would recommend this one.

John, are you doing the 106 or 126 miler? Since I have a company picnic on 9/16, I can do this one.

dauphin
08-31-07, 10:36 AM
I was leaning toward the 106 miler since I already know the course. I haven't seen the course for the 126. Have to check the website again.

dauphin
08-31-07, 10:46 AM
I just read the course description...they added part of what they did last year because of a fire that was in the area. I think that 126 miler would be too brutal. I plan on doing the 106 miler.

Yes, you do ... but I'm not doing the Iowa Hill time trial ... I'll be glad if I can even finish the 11,000 feet of climbing!

I don't plan on doing the TT unless I am riding alone. I'd rather not burn myself out anyway.

dauphin
08-31-07, 03:19 PM
Ron, I've ridden Iowa Hill about eight times...I would need to be timed with an hour glass...so I think I will pass on the TT. http://www.pacfit.com/eek.jpg

Dang, I wasn't aware of where Auburn is. I guess I should book a motel?

And where's tracy? Is she doing this?

dauphin

I haven't seen much of tracy lately

How's the air with the fire out there?

How's the air with the fire out there?

The breeze pushed it back to Plumas as of Friday. I went out at o'dark-thirty this morning (Sat) and the air is crisp and clean.
It will probably be pretty warm though (high 80's-low 90's).
I would love to do this but I won't be in good enough shape for at least 3 months.

weather is beautiful today. Only 73 degrees and I'm thinking of riding the first 50 today to see how I feel.

spingineer
09-08-07, 01:52 PM
Great. I'm on-call this weekend, so no riding ... :( This makes me even more worried about the 11,000 feet climbing.

dauphin
09-08-07, 08:28 PM
Ron, it really wasn't bad today. I think you will do just fine!

spingineer
09-08-07, 08:33 PM
I'm not worried about the weather, but the fact that I can't train today, and that there's 11,000 feet of climbing. Haven't climbed that amount in a single ride (even with all the doubles I did).

dauphin
09-08-07, 08:40 PM
Tell you what Ron, ride with me and you'll be fine.

dauphin
09-11-07, 01:01 AM
Ron, did you get a motel room? When are you coming up?

spingineer
09-11-07, 01:07 AM
Oops ... guess I should get a motel, shouldn't I ... I'm making the ugly drive Friday afternoon ... I'll make sure I have plenty of ipod material, while I'm waiting in traffic.

spingineer
09-11-07, 01:23 AM
Okay, just got a room at Super 8 Motel. I'll probably get in Friday evening some time.

I was going to ask the same thing. I can meet you guys wherever it's most covenient. I figured at the starting point would be a good place so we just need to decide on a time. Anytime is a good time for me (6-ish?). I look forward to riding with you guys... and I'll be in the NorCal jersey as well.

I'll be there. Not sure who I'm riding w/. My small group of non BF'rs is falling apart, so I'll look for you guys.

I'll be spending Friday night at my parents' house in Elk Grove and shooting for a 5:30 to 5:45 arrival in Auburn. Meeting up at 6 works for me. I'm in the third round of NorCal jersey orders so I'll just have on my pearl izumi blue and black jersey.

Go Elk Grove! It's your birthday!
We know how to party!

:p

That Pony Express ride sounds like fun, but I'll probably just knock out 50 miles around ELK GROVE! I need a few more long rides before I join the public en masse.

I'm probably going to get to registration around 6-ish ... so probably won't roll till maybe quarter after. See everybody there.

I'm dreading the drive over. Won't be able to get out of the office till 4:30 PM, so I probably won't get to my motel till maybe 8 PM. Friday rush hour ... ugh :(
