I just moved down to the woodlands, and am looking for a decent bike shop. In Lubbock I had a friend that worked at one just down the road, so I've been pretty spoiled. One of my neighbors mentioned bikeland, just down the highway a few miles, so I guess I'll check them out later. I'd like to hear any other suggestions y'all may have.
thanks

+1 for Bike Lane. Ken is great.
Bike Land likes to sell you. They have one person there who is all about what he has done and could care less about what you want or need. Nice shop but they could use a different approach.
Bike Lane listens and suggests. Great shop. They don't talk much but they listen really well and make really good suggestions. Very loyal following.
There is another shop in the Kroger shopping center at Gosling Road and Research Forest. Don't bother unless you like BMX.
There are several good group rides in the area. HEB near Market Street at 8:30 am Sunday Mornings would be a good way to get your feet wet.
Welcome to The Woodlands.

Bike Lane sounds like a pretty good shop, a good bit farther then bike land... but a good shop can be worth a longer drive/ride
What are the group rides leaving from HEB on Sunday mornings like? I don't really ride far very often... just runs to the stores and wherever... 7-8 miles would be the longest I go on any kind of semi regular basis.
and thanks for the welcome
The ride starts at 8:30am and goes for about 26-27 miles total. The group splits up naturally with all levels of riders. Some do the entire route others modify as needed. The do have a beginners ride every Saturday morning at 8:00am. I think it starts at the Branch Crossing YMCA. Check out the Woodlands Cycling Club on-line. They have a calendar with all the rides on it.
Hope you can join in on some rides. It is a great group of people who really help each other out. They always meet after the ride at the Jamba Juice. It's a lot of fun
