Okay, so after upgrading a few other things on my '07 Conquest, I've decided its about time I upgrade from the no-name crank thats got FSA printed on its arms to look cool.
I really like the 46-36 ring setup I have, so staying with a compact crank is a must, I've looked at the Gossamer Compact Cross, w/ a 46-36, as well as looked into getting another compact and moving my current rings over (they're not that worn and shift great for me now). I really just cant decide on something...
Any suggestions? concerns with the Gossamer MegaExo cranks? (it looks like the quality may have turned better here recently) other ideas?

I used FSAs for a long time, there really isn't a substantial improvement within their product line that justifies an upgrade, if you want to upgrade and stay compact go Shimano (or Campy if so inclined).
Its hard to fault FSAs, especially at the price point, even a Gossamer is up to almost anything you throw at it. In my analysis (at least with shimano) something like a Dura Ace or Ultegra is just a little better finished and a little quieter, whether its worth the price is up to you, the difference isn't likely to lose anyone a race.
FSA Energy Mega Exo is an excellent crankset. It's as light as a SLK, but much cheaper. Also the Shimano R700 compact is a great crank if you are on shimano. Just move your rings over if you are happy with them.
Pricepoint has Truvativ Elita GXP External Bearing Compact cranks including BB for $79.99+ shipping. Got a set for the hilly Seattle area. Rings are 36/50. You can switch out the 50 with the 46
Sugino XD? Or a TA Vega. You can fiddle with the BCD's on those, so you can run pretty much any rings you have. Not that you should not be using TA rings, since they apparently rock.
