After 61/2 seasons my Look pedals finally broke. So now I have to replace them. I would like so pros and cons of the Time pedals and the new Look pedals. I have Carnac shoe so a pedal change is no big deal. Thanks for the help.

I've never used time pedals, but most people i've seen who use them have trouble clicking into them.

Although over the past 10 or 12 years most of the TDF winners have used time pedals, one could assume they are good enough for Mr Joe Average :)

cheers!

I found that Time cleats made walking on hard surfaces dangerous. The front cleat (of the two-part cleat arrangement) was a hard metal chunk that dug holes into shop floors. The pedals were a bit difficult to get into, but once you were in, they had very smooth, almost slippery float. I never cleated out unintentionally. I thought the pedals were extremely heavy, considering the money I paid for them. This was some years ago, so Time may have made some design changes.

I'm back on Looks.

After using Looks for a long time, I'm now using Keywin CRM pedals (www.keywin.com). If you're in North America, you can order them direct from the Canadian importer at www.bigtwincycling.com.

Keywins are lightweight, have a large platform and cleat, and I find them much easier to clip into without having to glance down than with Looks. The cleats use the standard Look bolt pattern, so they work with any Look-compatible shoe.

They're worth checking out.

I have extensively ridden both Looks and Time over the years and now am on Speedplays with my Carnacs. The benefits: super lightweight, either side clips in, clip in easier w/o looking, low profile so foot is closer to spindle for better ergo efficiency, free float for no knee stress.

OK so the Time pedals are out. What about the Speedplay X pedals. Thanks for all the help.
