I'll be vacationing next week with children 7, 5 and 2 at the Boardwalk Beach Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida. It's about 15 miles east of the east end of the Timpoochee Trail (link 1 (http://www.discover30a.com/tour/tour.html), link 2 (http://www.visitflorida.com/cms/e/little_known_cycling_trails.php), link 3 (http://www.visitflorida.com/images/biketrails_b_v5.pdf), link 4 (http://www.beachesofsouthwalton.com/nature_BIKING.asp), link 5 (http://www.defuniakherald.com/mar2306.html)).
Q. -- Is it safe enough for bikes pulling kid trailers to go from the Boardwalk to the eastern Timpoochee trailhead? The path, I guess, would be to ride Thomas to Front Beach Road for about 13.5 miles, then about 1.5 miles on Hwy 98/30 over Powell Lake to the trailhead where 30A splits off of 98/30.
Q. -- What kid-friendly biking is there in the vicinity of the Boardwalk Beach Resort? When we vacation, we try to go everywhere on bike. The 7 year old now rides his own bike, the 5 year old rides a single-wheeled pedal-trailer behind mom and the 2 year old rides in a two wheeled baby buggy behind dad. We consider it a failure to use of the car to go anywhere after we arrive at the vacation site.
