what is the safest way to store a bike? on a hook on the celing by the front wheel? would that cause untrueiness? or just put the bike on the ground.

No, your wheel will not be untrued by hanging it from a hook or two. This is the same wheel that withstands tremendous pressures and stresses when you ride it over a bump. And putting it on the ground would be no more nor any less stress than hanging.
When you say "safest" I am not quite sure what you mean? Safe from what?
If a mtn bike with fluid in the shocks, you have to give some consideration that if upside down, the fluid might leak.
I hang 4 bikes from the garage ceiling with no problems.

If you have a problem with storage space, it'd be advisable to hang your bike, but if you have the space, why wouldnt you just leave it on the ground? You can just jump on and ride then... ride into the sunset... ahhh :beer:

Indoors, I just lean mine against the wall, but I did put down some plastic matting to save the carpet

George I am Jealous it looks like you have actual room to work on your 4 bikes. Is that soon to be 5? I noticed a lone frame hanging there. If you have the space that is the best way to store them they are up and out of harms way a buddy of mine caused a couple hundred dollars damage to his bike by stepping on it in the middle of the night trying to navigate the hallway where he kept his bike. The can also be set for just one bike.

Being limited on space, I pretty much have to hang all of my bikes from the garage rafters. The boys keep their mountain bikes in our family room (former garage, before I built the new one).

Supergo has a bike stand similar to that one for $59 I have one in my room works really well the arms are each adjustible so can even hold a full suspension frame no problem. Also has added arms so can hold up to 4 bikes.
