I have a chance to buy a used bike locally so I can look at it and ride it but would like someone here with experience tell me what to look for. I am looking at a 2004 Santa Cruz Blur XC with disk brakes. Are there any experts on this out there? Has anyone here purchased a used FS bike?

I would look closely at all of the welds and the metal adjacent to the welds to be sure there are no stress cracks. Check for play in the pivots that might indicate shot or worn bearings. Check the shock body and shaft for signs of leaks and just be sure that the shock cycles through smoothly and that the rebound adjuster actually works (changing settings noticeably alters rebound speed).
