Finally I did what I had set as a personal challenge. Completed my first solo, unsupported, non - stop century - 181 km / 112.5 miles in fact).
Some numbers:
Total distance: 181.24 km
Total time = ride time: 6h 53 min 25 secs
Average speed: 26.3 kph
Max speed: 46.1 kph
Average speed for first 90 kms: 23,5 kph (headwind)
Average speed for last 90 kms: 28.8 kph (tailwind)
Food: 1 banana at km 70/3 hs, three big chocolate cookies at km 115/4.5 hrs
Drink: 1.5 lts plain water
I know the average speed is not great (I aimed for 27 kmh, and that was already slow), but the wind was strong and my goal was to clip at my door and unclip at my door, no unclipping during the ride, which I did. Finished OK, a bit tired but no pains, which confirmed that my fit is OK too. As a matter of fact, at the 80 km turning point, as I was feeling fine, I thought: Why not some kms more? At the Ironman they do 180 km, so...
Now looking for my next goal: 370 km in a day.

Remarkable ride I'm sure. Congratulations. I know you're worried about the time but it's more than I could ever dream of on a century(plus). I shoot for 10 hours and never keep any stats.

Nice work!

Is that all you ate/drank? If you only drank 1.5L that explains why you didn't need to stop and pee!

Yes, that was all. I was concerned about 'pee - stops', but didn't need to. Must have been as you say.

Only 1.5l of water? That's insane! I don't know if I'd drink so little over 7 hours if I was sitting around doing not much of anything. Heck I think I drank that much at one controle during my last brevet. Anyway, the point is that's impressive, if not a little crazy. :D Plus, I now have a new goal, hehe. In cooler weather, I could do it b/c I wouldn't need to stop to refuel (Camelbak FTW).

Excellent job Reynolds! I too just completed my first a couple of weeks ago, it was a great feeling. My long term goal is to cycle in some brevets & double centuries. There are many people on this forum I'd love to emulate cycling wise. Again, great job. :D

What was the weather like? 1.5L of water for a century is pretty impressive.

Way to go. That is a major accomplishment.

I can't do a non-stop century. I simply have to drink enough to use the bathroom every 1.5 hours or so, minimum, or I get dehydrated. Was one of the reasons that you only drank 1.5 L of water because you did not want to stop to use the restroom?

This is very interesting to me to read so much about what and how much to drink, and feeling the difference on long rides, and then seeing someone doing a century without unclipping on almost no food or water. I'm dumbfused! :p

Great job, that's a helluv an accomplishment!

Way to go Reynolds! I was trying to do a non-stop century last weekend at the HH100, but ended up getting 2 flats during the last 30 miles. (major bummer!)

Best of luck with your 370 km ride!

Thanks! I wasn't trying to set a 'less drinking for a century' record. Carried 2 bottles because that's what my bicycle has, I don't like Camelbacks or carrying bottles in my jersey pockets, and based on previous non - stops metrics I thought I could get by with 1.5 lts. Temp was cool, about 14 C. However, I don't encourage anybody to do that. It worked for me, but I know some people will be dehydrated if they tried that; everybody's different and my drinking needs are below average. That said, another bottle would've been welcome... Next time maybe I'll get 2 1 l bottles.

Damn dude, are you half-robot or something? 6 hours in the saddle with no discomfort and only 1.5l of water? I can't do more than an hour without some kind of pain, and not less than half a litre :/
Kudos to you.

You shouldn't feel any pain in an 1 hr ride, or a 3 hr one if your fit is OK. Of course I had some discomfort at some point of my ride, but regular stretching on the bicycle - legs, waist, arms, neck - fixed that.

Average speed for first 90 kms: 23,5 kph (headwind) Average speed for last 90 kms: 28.8 kph (tailwind)Nice ride, you have learned a lot about yourself and know much about pacing yourself.

It's good that you should understand the concept of 'no limits'..... Too many riders are afraid to test themselves.

Amen to that. I don't ride until I puke, but unless I push myself, the ride just doesn't feel 'real' enough.
