as many of you may have seen on the news the chicago area got hit with a major storm. the winds were 60-70 miles per hour in some areas. we got hit pretty hard. i was at work and was tracking it on the internet, within minutes we were in a tornado warning and the sirens were sounding. the storm was in and out of the area within 15 minutes, it was crazy though. the trees were literally bent side ways. we lost power about two minutes into the storm. my house lost power around 3:30 on thursday and we didnt get it restored until around midnight on sunday night.

these are some pictures we snapped right after the first storm hit. the second wave was mostly rain. the area had a lot of bad flooding and lost power for days. meteorologists are saying we havent been hit by a strom this powerful in over 30 years.

here are some pics:

the second storm we were in the basement getting stuff off the ground because we knew it would flood. the last pics show our basement. i just now hooked all my stuff back up in my room(in basement) to try to save it all. luckily when we built my room we raised it off the floor about 7-8 inches so nothing got ruined in my room>

Fixed the title for you. Glad to hear you're safe and hope the clean up goes as quickly and smoothly as possible for you. Living in the south tip of Tornado Alley I know what it's like to watch those super cell storms moving in and running for cover now and then. Scary stuff!

We must have blown that storm your way. It came through here, and tore some massive trees right out of the ground. Knocked another big branch off my never-ending shedding tree. I think we had a couple of tornadoes with it, too.
