I'm narrowing down my list and the Heckler and Cannondale Gemini are at the top for test rides. I like the looks of both bikes on paper, they seem similar geometry-wise, but a key difference on the Medium size is Gemini TT @ 23.6 while Heckler TT @ 22.5

My question for those who have ridden both of these bikes (or for anyone who has an opinion ;-)...

would the longer top tube on the Gemini possibly be perceived as a disadvantage when dealing with speedy descents, jumps, negotiating nasty root-infested singletrack e.g. rider weight more toward the front? It would seem that the Gemini's slightly more slack frame design would "make up" for the longer top tube by keeping rider weight more toward the back.

Under what riding conditions would the Gemini's longer top tube be perceived as an advantage?

I will be doing "all mountain" riding, climbing is important and I'm not afraid to work on the climbs

thanks for any insight

The Heckler is a more "All Mountain" oriented bike. The Gemini leans toward the freeride side of things. The Heckler is quite tough, yet can built light enough to not punish you terribly.

I've never ridden a Gemini, but I've been riding and abusing my Heckler for four or five years now, and have had absolutely no problem. Mine is built up light enough to use as an everyday XC bike, but I also do some moderate freeriding every summer at various ski resorts and it has performed great. I don't think you would dislike it.
