Mountain Biking - Fox Vanilla vs. Marz Comp Eta/Pro

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi, I'm in need of a new fork. I currently have a '01 Manitou Sx-lt, 100 mm fork. It's almost a year old on my '01 Specialized Enduro FSR. (I bought the bike in August of '02)
I've saved money up and I would like your advice.
Should I go with the '03 Fox Vanilla 125R or the '03 Marzocchi Comp/Pro with Eta? (If there is a major difference between the comp and pro?).
I do mostly intermediate/advanced XC, racing, on singletrack, roots, rocks, etc. If you're in S. Florida, I do all the local trails here, Markham, Oleta, Queit Water and Amelia. I'm not looking for a super light or a heavy fork. I'm not a big guy, 5"10, 150 lbs. 17 years old.
Thanks for the help!

Which Marzocchi?
There are several.
I'm a big guy, and prefer Marzocchi products, but the Fox's are very nice forks. I've heard and experienced some delays in dealing with Fox's warranty/service department, so ANY Marzocchi is my preference, since they're completly rebuildable and parts are readily available.
With Fox, if you dissassemble them, (even a LBS), it voids the warranty. They insist you send it back to them. From FL to WA, that's a long time without your fork!

BTW, I'm West Coast FL, 1 hour South of Tampa. Let me know if you head up to Ocala or Lakeland ever!

It's the Marz Mx Comp or Pro.

go to the bikemag.com forums and ask. Theres a lot of people from Miami there and often mention riding trails like Oleta. But if you want an opinion id say go for the fox hands down

Marzocchi hands down for all of a2's reasons. I hate not being able to 'fiddle' and fix things on my own let alone getting my bike shop to do it. I would not want my fork to go and wait 4 to 6 weeks for the repair because fox service is proprietary.

Is there a major difference between the Marz. Mx Comp and the Pro? Is the Pro worth the extra $80?

The only difference is the rebound adjustment. I use mine quite a bit for different situations so personally I think the 80$ is worth having and external adjust over the internal adjust for rebound.

Also the MXComp has SSV damping (Speed sensitive valve) whereas the MXpro has SSVF damping (Speed sensitive valve floating!) which means better damping with the Pro. Hands down marzocchi for all the reasons that my dear friends Maelstrom and A2psyklenut told you so far.
I think you should just get one of these.
