Hello---- My friend is getting married this weekend in San Francisco and his wife asked me to find them a tandem as a present AND to show up to the Saturday afternoon picnic on it. I told her I would try but after weeks of looking on Craigslist, no luck. So I am trying here. The overall budget is $750 or so, the captain rides a 51cm road bike, stoker a 55cm. A mountain tandem (older burley?), seems to me, would be a good first tandem for them. If you know of a tandem for sale that fits the bill, please email me at jdprimus@yahoo.com. Thank you!

Search tandem on Craigslist.org.

Good luck

I check the SF craigslist pretty much everyday and except for a tall Burley rock and roll is nothing available in you price range..

I did see two nice Santanas and a pretty cool Sycip with a Power beam, but they cost a lot more than $750..

Here is what is Available today (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/bik?query=tandem&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max)

Actually this one is pretty cheap, but maybe a little to tall, plus Hydrolic brakes on such a old frame do not make much sense, unless they are magura rim brakes..
Jeff Lyons Tandem - $250 (redwood city) (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/407600155.html)

Custom built Lyonsport Chromoly Tandem
Captain 6'1" Stoker 5'10"
Hydraulic brakes, 27" wheels, 48 spokes
Very low miles; built in 1986
dark blue

To the OP, sorry friend. I don't have a hot clue what to suggest if you've only got two days, $750 to play with, and there's nothing listed in the SF classifieds, CraigsList, or on the local SF bike club internet sites. You could contact the folks down at the Bicycle Outfitter to see if they have any NOS KHS entry level models in stock or have any leads on second hand Cannondales.
