A "newer" Fooster just PM'd me asking who the heck Merton is. I figured it would be too long for me to explain. Perhaps we can all chime in...

MERTON is virtually inexplicable.
He created the craziest threads with the oddest questions you ever thought of. Then he'd act like he was annoyed if you didn't take it seriously.
At first you thought he was the weirdest PITA you ever met, but he grew on you and after a while he didn't annoy you much anymore. You kinda liked him in all of his "oddness".
I miss MERTON. :(

We had a few threads after MERTON left where we kinda made fun by asking "MERTON-like" questions. I think KrisPistofferson started the thread.

He decided foo wasn't worth his time anymore, and somehow all his posts and his acc was deleted. I think he asked a mod to erase him off the world.

He posted a sketch he made of a toilet bowl for art class, and posted it, asking our opinion of it because he thought the instructor gave him a lower mark than he deserved.
He also posted pictures of his bike on many occasions, and always had some hare-brained scheme for "upgrading" it.

I have not seen Merton or his posts, but from what I can tell, he was a Fooster who had no "filters" to tell him what was worth posting and what he should have kept to himself.

He had asked the mods to un-member him so he can study school. But he never came back for the summer. Someone even bought him a red star because he was always so "poor"....(his words). But I think in all essence, he wasn't "poor" so to speak. He was enriched with a certain charm.

From an outsiders view when you first read his question he would piss you off because you wonder how someone could ask such a asshat question. His questions entertained some while he received ridicule from others. There was no gray areas, he made you choose one side or the other.
Then as time went on, he became like a double-edge sword where he made you laugh and cry at the same time.
He was kind of an awkward guy that never could fit in. (wow, kind of like me?).
Anyway, Siu liked him (friendship wise per Siu) and that got Merton alot of free passes. Merton liked Siu's acceptance and attention and definitely kept coming around for it. :rolleyes:
When I think of Merton I think of a phrase Shakespeare used in Hamlet: "Sweet bells jangled out of tune..." :rolleyes:
