Attacked cyclist wants more security on trail

This trail goes through many very very bad neighborhoods. often times bordered by a 8ft concrete wall on oneside and a tall fence on the other. It's prime mugging area. I doubt they'll put any considerable police presence there though, maybe 1 bike cop will ride it twice a day :rolleyes:

If police do ever patrol this it will be during the day, not at night.

Yikes, the trail looks like it is out in the country. A good can of mace might be in order to ride that trail. Also, in the tradition of stupid criminals, what the heck are you going to rob from a bicyclist? A frame pump?

1700$ is a good bit of money, I had 2 rockhoppers stolen, so I quit and went back to a lower appeal cycle!

I talked to a Marine who had been posted in the phillippines and was so sick and tired of having his bikes stolen that he said he loaded up the frame with plastic explosive and set it off when they nicked it and were riding away.

I doubt his story...but still, a great idea.
