Im seriously looking at the Transition Dirtbag for my next bike. Just wondering if anyone rides one and if so do you have many issues with pedal bob without ProPedal turned on. By looking at the design of the linkage arms I would guess it wouldnt be an issue. Just looking for some first hand input. Also if you own any Transition where did you buy it? Im trying to find the best price too. Thanks, Matt

Heres a pic if anyone with more knowledge on the subject can tell by looking at the bike.

I do beleive Marlstrom rides a dirtbag. Dminor rides a Gran Mal. And soon I shall be riding a Blindisde :)

Good stuff man! Can't comment on anything in particular about the DB though.

I've ridden a Preston FR, which is very similar in design (walking beam) to the longer-travel Dirtbag. I was impressed. Most of what I was doing was sessioning DH course stunts for a photo shoot so it was not a fair 'riding test;' but I was pleased with how well the suspension worked for only having, what, 5" of travel? I felt at home on it right away.

Transition makes great bikes and there are tons of reviews on the dirtbag on the transition website. I haven't personally tried one but I have yet to hear anything bad about them.

I've got a Covert that pedals quite well.

Just keep in mind that the frames are a basic, no frills suspension design. No VPP, Maestro, DW-Link, whatever magic pivot system of the day. It's a basic linkage driven single pivot bike. This is part of what helps keep their cost down.

That said, they have their particular take on the design pretty damn dialed in terms of suspension action and frame geometry. Take the time to tune in whatever shock and fork you go with, and it'll pedal just fine.

He he he!! Get your mind out of the gutter. The user name comes form riding sport bikes(or does it?)

Oh, and a status update on the great frame search, went to the LBS that carries Transition and I think the new frame is gonna be a Bottlerocket. Hmmm...... Preston, Dirtbag and now Bottlerocket? I wish I could make up my mind.

I have a dirtbag. I love it. Rides well and is strong like ox.

Report this post to a moderator and ask why the difference?

I would be shocked if the only thing you said was pee pee.
