"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Since everyone else has gotten a new sled lately....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I figured it was time to redo the MTB. Not exactly road racing, but it's a crazy light Hardtail, since the only thing I'm good at is going fast on the less technical stuff... That, and I don't care enough about the MTB racing to read the MTB forums, plus I feel the need to share.

Have fun:

Friend basically helped me pro-deal the whole thing, so the cost was pretty much unbelievable. And, it's fast. Scary fast. Plus, it has two 'matching' (in that they all say 'SCOTT' on the downtube, and all have the CR1 carbon layup) coming up soon. Stay tuned, folks!

That is a lot of bike. Do you race MTB?

That's a very clean and good looking stable of bicycles. So clean that one can only conclude you need to ride more:)

That looks like fun!

I need to break out the MTB again. My friend, who is the local pastor of the Church of the Single Speed, made Captain at his fire house and hasn't been going out :(

Hey, mountain biking can be a great way to pretend you're recovering! Perfectly sensible in a road racing forum ;)

Looks nice. I just sold my 22 pound full suspension mountain bike on Tuesday. I've decided my days of racing mountain bikes are over. I'm planning on ordering a Titus MotoLite 2 frame today and just building up a nice all mountain bike.

Here is the 22 pounder I just sold.

I re-started life as a roadie last year with the intention of focusing strictly on that and nothing else. Now I'm strongly considering cyclocross as well (when money allows that to become an option) and as I'm going to be joining a new team for '08 - one with a number of MTB'ers (including some with very noteworthy local success in the upper echelons) - I can't stop thinking of how much fun it'd be to build up a nice lightweight hardtail. UT Dude, that Scott truly does look awesome. Gut-wrenchingly awesome. Almost "I want to break into your home and steal it AND the Tarmac so that I have matching Tarmacs" awesome.

Keep your doors locked.

There - I've warned you.

Doors are locked. Yeah, I love the Carbon weave, which is why I went for that bike... Now I'm just praying I don't break it. First race on it this Saturday! Yikes..

Considering my skills (or lack thereof) as a mountain biker I would destroy that bike in approx. 3 minutes.

Meh. I about threw the new sled off of a cliff this weekend. They made the course 10x more technical than last year, so none of my roadie speed carried over :(. I spent at least 30% of my time this weekend walking. Aaaargh. Oh well. At least it went fast up the non-technical hills.

That stinks. I know how you feel. When I spend a lot of time away from the MTB and get out with friends, I spend the early parts of the ride just wishing for the part of the course where I can pedal hard.
