Working friday, Off monday. Going to time how long it takes me to ride to work and back.
I have friday off also (Juniper Networks holiday) as was planning on doing a morning ride in Fremont. Maybe up Palomares Rd?
I'm finally over my cold so I can start building my strength back up.
kster, if you go up Palomares Road, you might want to wear some some bug repellant! :p
I took the morning off from work today and rode up from the Fremont/Union City side, over the top and down as far as the the Palomares Creek bridge, turned around and headed back to UC.
I was swarmed by mosquitoes as I was climbing, especially heading north past the monastery and all the way back up from the Castro Valley side. When the sun was right you could see a cloud of them over the creek, ewww.
I really love that ride but it was kind of unpleasant this morning, trying to fan the bugs away from my face as I was climbing. I suppose that says something about how fast I climb. :p
Oooh, and I had my first tarantula sighting of the season this morning, he was toodling up the road as I was climbing back up. I am happy to say I at least climb faster than a tarantula.

Thanks for the heads up jobob. There normally aren't many bugs flying around in that area but maybe the warm weather has changed things. I'll check it out tomorrow though. :)

I'm heading out of town for the weekend, taking Friday and Tuesday off. I'll be off the bike completely for at least 3 of those days.

That is sweet - I think a lot of people are taking Friday off. I am working but have to leave work early for a podiatrist appointment to pick up my orthotics for cycling; don't plan on riding tomorrow anyway (except for 30 minutes on the trainer to wake me up) because Hermes and I are doing the Beat the Clock time trial Sat. morning on the tandem. I am looking forward to this weekend (have Monday off), and am thankful I no longer work at a law firm. I work hard but what a relief not to have that billable hour pressure.

Likewise - I much prefer working at a company rather than a law firm.

Whereabouts?
Not sure. I was thinking maybe somewhere with lots of tree cover. MTB at Skeggs? Any road rides with lots of tree cover that is not Tunitas Creek.
