Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Well, I'm getting ready to go to the stylist this afternoon to have something done with this mess. I like the length of my hair, it's about maybe 2" below my shoulders, but not more than that currently. It's pretty much all one length too.
This afternoon, I'm gonna get some color and probably do some layers to give it more volume. Currently, the long layers just get weighed down and it lays flat on my head. I've had plenty of perms before so I was considering this in about 2wks.
So, I guess what I'm wondering, what's your opinion on whether I should get a perm in a couple of weeks? I don't want something really curly, but something that will give me more body..You can find some pics in Foo Wimmen thread or somewhere else to see it as it is now. I'll post some up later so you won't have to search, but right now, I have to go....

Straight...I'm not a fan of perms. Think what a helmet will look like sitting ontop of a brillo pad. Straight.

The thing about a perm is that you have to keep perming it, or it looks bad as it grows out. You just need better layers.

can you go half and half? That way you can compare in real time and find out which one you like best.

I had a perm once back in the late 70's. Men actually used to do that. Frightening. Keep it straight.

My mom was in barber school and talked me into a "man perm" in 8th grade. It was a pretty bad 4-6 months before it worked out and I could get rid of the hideousness.

I remember my mom going for perms all the time, the tight kind, she had a pick for comb.. Im laughing here, it was just ridiculously tight on her head.. I always hated perms...

1989? Did something happen in 1989? Something you might still have embarrassing pictures of?
You could pull off a loose perm, I think. Just not the poodle perm.

ok, i think after getting some new color and layers, i'll leave it straight. everyone, including hubby, prefers the straight look...so, here's the after....

Straaaaaight.
People with curly hair torture themselves trying to get it straight. Why would you spit in their faces and curl your straight hair? :p

umm, i just let the stylist choose the colors. i have natural "dirty blonde" and the last color was sorta lighter brown with blonde highlights. well, the more it's washed and the more it's in the sun, the lighter it gets.......it was way too blonde for my liking. so i told her to just do "whatever". she asked if "red" was ok and i said yea, as it's time for a change....so, there's red, blonde, brown coloring or whatever she wanted to use!
anyways, i do like it a lot and won't be getting a perm. just need to visit the stylist more often for some trims...
Thanks Crank:)

I meant dark hair doesn't take on the tri colors very well unless you bleach first.
Yeah, but when it looks fine the way it is, why bother? :)
[edit: Bleach is pretty high on the List of Hair Evils, as well.]
