Mountain Biking - Specialized Stumpjumper comp

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
hey, i visited my LBS and I was wondering if this is a good bike. It is the 08 stumpjumper, what are you guys thoughts?
$2400. same on Specialized website.
they suggested this bike to me, so yeah. I took it for a test ride and the bike is really light. No binding like my other bike.

My brother has this bike, I believe it is '05 though. It is an awesome bike, it is really light and that's all I could say as I never road it. But my brother loves it!
Do LBS do demos? If so ask them about demoing a bike. I know some hockey shops let goalies demo pads, but I don't know about bikes.

I have the 06 and love it; do ride it first.
edit: Apparently I have reading comprehension issues: if you liked how it felt in the test ride then I recommend that you buy it. It's a solid performer.
sweet, i just need a job.
how much?
Who cares. He asked how good the bike was, not how much it cost.

How good it is is relative to the cost. If he could get a less than average 2500 dollar bike for 1000, I would consider that a "good bike", because it would still be better than anything in the 1000 dollar range. Its all about comparing bikes to the other ones in a similar price range. I can call my Hardrock a "good bike" the same way somebody can call their s-works a "good bike". This is obviously meaningless. Therefore, a bike is considered "good" if it outshines others in its price range.
Why not buy an 07 at a discounted price...I did and saved $500 off MSRP. Couldn't be happier.
