85 in my bedroom this morning when I got up. It was 92 when I went to bed. I actually slept, but I think more from exhaustion than anything else. Sigh.
Do all you valley peeps have A/C? I don't and right now my Galileo thermometer is registering 96 degrees at 9:30. I get no breeze in my bedroom ever. I would be better off in a sleeping bag on the balcony.

I have one lousy window unit that cools about five feet directly in front of it really well. So, it will be 106 in my bedroom around noon today and 77 degrees on one end of my couch. In order to stay cool in my apartment, I would have to sit right where I'm sitting right now all day long. I suppose for some people that sounds fine. For me, I can't imagine anything worse. :(

Come visit my lab, and you can relax in my office. :) One consolation prize for working today is steady 72 degree temperatures with low humidity.

I wish, Jason. I would bring a blankie and a pillow and chill out with frozen yogurt or sherbert. But, I'm going to get my butt up here in two minutes and to the gym. It will be cool there too at least.

If you can believe this, I'm about to join thousands of others and leave for the beach. I'll just hang out in the water for a few hours with my kids.

My a/c gave out yesterday. The unit was lousy to begin with, but at least it was good enough to cool off the bedroom a little at night. So it was still 95 inside at 2am. I think I am going to have to try your ice pack idea tonight. Because there is no way the landlords will find someone to fix the a/c on labor day.

I did a group ride this morning. At first it was pretty warm-hot (8:30am); but as soon as the group turned into the coast/PCH it was like having a/c turned on. :D
Chucked doing the bike in favor of a one mile swim at the gym at 7:30, thankfully in an outdoor pool. It was already hot in Thousand Oaks by then.
Just finished lunch and briefly considered a quick trip down to the beach with my daughter however the place is gonna be a zoo so heck with it...we're going to my mom's pool a mile away instead!
NWS is calling for cooler temps so I'm hoping to ride to work on Wednesday.

Yesterday I went to dinner and a movie (Death Sentence: good) just to be in air conditioning. My roommate just covered her bedroom windows with aluminum foil to keep heat out....and in. Don't try to reason with her. I'm thinking about going grocery shopping and reading every product label on the frozen aisle.

106 in Woodland Hills at 1:15. That's the last time I had the guts to look.
Had just gotten back from a loop ride up the coast to Latigo and over, back through Agoura.
Hmmm, as of 7:15 pm, still 94 degrees.

Oh man, it was warm on Latigo at 6:30am. I can't imagine what it was like later.

It's now a reasonable 91 in Pasadena, but there's almost no breeze where I live so it's still pretty hot feeling. Hopefully, it'll be better tomorrow morning on AC.
I got home from work at 3pm today. Decided to go riding. After changing and hearing how crazy I was, because of the heat, I checked the Weatherbug which I have set for Torrance Airport. It's just down the street. Weatherbug at 3:15 showed 102*. Naw, I live in a beach city it doesn't get that hot here. It's got to be wrong. It was hot but somehow it didn't seem that hot to me. So, I took off. Started climbing Palos Verdes Drive East. As I climbed and took a drink I thought WOW that drink is hot. Checked the temp from Cateye AT 100. It was HOT, 104*.
At the top I called my wife and asked if she wanted to go to the beach. She said she was waiting for my call. As I was riding towards Redondo Beach on P. V. Drive South it got cooler, 97*. At the beach, 84. So she brought my towel and swimsuit and after only 20 miles my ride ended at the beach with a swim.

I had been invited to the Angels Game last night. I got up and decided to go ride in the am. I planned on leaving around 7am. I actually left at 9:15am (long story). My plan was just to do 30 miles around Back Bay and back (you guys who did tough hilly stuff - you're animals!). To Back Bay was OK. There was a slight onshore breeze. I tried to stop and just watch the water but once I stopped it got unbearable hot so I kept riding. Back up the San Diego Creek trail I started to get hot and bonky. That little dehydration headache was coming on. I barely made it back home. Once home, I turned on the air and got comfortable.
So my friend calls and the Angel game was still on - darn! It was so hot and humid sitting in the stadium I was about to pass out. Could not stop sweating, still had that headache. The only saving grace was a great fireworks show after the game. Got home, ran a tub of cool water and soak myself awhile.
Note to self: Start looking for a cool dry place to retire. I am really starting to hate hot weather!!! Of course catch me in the winter time when it's 65 degrees, clear and sunny and I can go out and ride. I might want to stay here! ;)

81 degrees in my bedroom this morning. That's an improvement from the 85-95 over night for the past four days.

That’s why I was sweating.:)
I was in Santa Clarita Sunday riding with my son and it was hot by the time we got back to his place, 102. Then my wife, son, daughter-in-law and I went to IKEA, it was hot in Burbank. We drove over to a mall on Topanga Canyon Road and while we were on 101 his outside temp was reading 115, it was cooler in Bakersfield.

I rode up to Redbox yesterday. I left my house at 6:45 and the air made it feel like I had left to late. I wasn't able to connect with my buds to find out what time we were going to meet and where. So I just took off with the thought of a spin up to Redbox and back before it got hot. I got up about 3/4 of the way to Clear Creek, when I got stung above my left eye by a bee. YIKES, I was worried about swelling around my eye and being able to ride safely. So i turned around and headed down. About 2 miles down I passed my buds spinning up the other side, so I turned around, caught up with them and had one look for a stinger where I was stung.
He said he didn't see anything and it didn't feel like the swelling was getting any worse, so I decieded to ride back up with them. The temps were perfect and made for an enjoyable ride. We made it to Clear Creek and two of the guys had time issues and turned around. The rest of us noodled our way up to Redbox. One of the guys hadn't been riding much so I got the added benefit of helping him when I could, A push can be a good thing I was thinking:)
The decent from Redbox is just so much fun now that they've repaved it. I used to avoid riding it simply because of those irritating frost ripples that showed up every 10 meters or so. But now since they've repaved it, it's like heaven (well at least to me:) As we dropped back down into La Canada, we would ride thru these pockets of super heated air that made you realize it was gonna be a whole lot hotter later in the day. So I was glad I left when I did. We hit the final downhill straight to the 210 fwy at 45 mph. It was a nice way to end a fun morning ride with the buds
