Whats Labor day? Presume it is another American holiday to enable you all to get in extra rides.
Whatever it is- Enjoy it. I know I enjoyed our Bank Holiday last weekend.

I actually have to work tomorrow morning but if it warms up enough I will ride the rest of the weekend............:)

That sounds funny. We poured concrete today and it was so hot I almost got sick. Had to take a break and drink a gatorade and run the garden hose on my head before finishing. We are just leaving town for a soccer tournment in Tampa with my 16 year old son. Wife and I are taking our bikes so we can squeeze in a couple of rides between games.

Yeah, I know. Its like all the summer was sucked out of New England and sent to the rest of the country. August was not supposed to be "sleeping with blankets" weather.
Geesh, Terrierman could you guys stop hogging all the heat!!
We knew it would be too hot to ride today so we decided to have our 3rd annual (and final) garage sale this weekend. What was I thinking?????????? It was 106 today, according to the thermometer in the shade. There's a chance of thunder showers tonight. Rain, where were you in winter when we needed you then???
maddmaxx: I'll gladly send some your way!!!

59deg as I sit here at 5:30 Sat morning. It will probably go into the 70's.
We've probably only had about a dozen days over 90 this summer.....and for those of you elsewhere, we are probably just a little short of rain.
This is the forcast for all weekend and I wish I could send some of it to you. How bout a water bottle full so you can open it on your next ride.
You will get payback in February when you are riding and I am watching snow fall.

Rained all night Thursday, canceling the planned MTB ride Friday morning. (I took Friday off). Turned out to be a good day for a road ride, but I stayed inside doing housework, paying bills and preparing to build my first wheel. Today it has been raining since I woke up. Good day to stay inside and watch college football. :D I'll get the wheel strung today. I may save the tensioning for later, when I can use the truing stand at the LBS. Tomorrow we are driving to Atlanta for Braves vs. Mets. Smoltz and Glavine are slated to pitch. That should be interesting.
Maybe I can get in a long ride Monday to make up for some of this laziness.

Some real outstanding weather here in SE PA. Just got back from an 8 mile ride with wife, her personal best, now off to do some real miles in Oley Valley. Tomorrow I participate in the Brandywine Tour and giving some serious thought to riding the 50 mile route. If there's anything left in me, Monday is also to be great weather. No global warming here.

Well - I am caught in the twilight zone. When it is holidays up there, it isn't here, and of course the reverse is also true. I think the one exception is Christmas. So - Monday I am working, but then again, I am not labor, I am evil business owner!
Have a fun and safe holiday to everyone. Nice day to start the month of September for a ride. Was out this morning and finished with 31 miles from the original 10 mile ride.

You'll notice I didn't say I did 80 miles in Woodland Hills...just that it was 112 in WH, and I rode 80 miles!:)
My ride was along the coast...73 degrees with a light, refreshing breeze! :p:p:p

Blazingly hot in central FL, and since it doesn't get light enough to ride until about 7:15 these days, there's not enough time to get in long miles until it gets too hot.

Happy Labor Day to you as well, T-Man. Our weather is probably like yours... great for riding.
A small number of our cycling group rode a metric century today. Started out at about 60 deg and ended in the mid 80's.
Looking forward to a ride on Monday as well.

It was 57F when I left the house this morning for the bike rodeo. I've had to pull out the arm warmers a couple times in the last week.
I'll probably need them in the morning for the ride to breakfast, too.
We cleared $63 (not including uncounted coins) at our garage sale today. It was a major success, considering we finally sold a desk that didn't sell in the previous 2 sales and was taking up precious space in the garage, and unloaded an old picnic table about 15 seconds after we carried it to the curb with a sign that said "FREE!" (a pick-up truck pulled up at almost that instant -- the last customer of the day). Later around 1:00 , I heard a "pop" sound outside in the patio, like the sound of a balloon when it pops. I looked outside just in time to see the thermometer in the patio crash to the ground and pieces of the plastic cover scatter about. Apparently, the 3M hook that supported it reaches its holding threshhold at 110 degrees.

Back from the morning ride (short). It was full tights and long sleeve jersey. At 9am its 50degF and I had to start the stove. What did you guys in California do with my summer?
Actually, I feel sorry for you as 100+ is just tooooo hot. What's with the freaky weather?
It's already 80 degrees here (at 7:45). Another hot one today. :(
maddmaxx: Your weather is what I call "good sleeping weather" or "good gardening weather". I can hardly wait for it to arrive. However, when it does, the days will also be much shorter. :(
