Mountain Biking - Question about racing? And any races in/around Toronto?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Do you need a top-notch bike to race? I just have a 'low-entry' bike, Giant Yukon. No disc brakes, just a good 'ol Manitou shock...basic stuff...Deore derailleur.

No you don't...while a bike helps if you are a capable racer you will place well regardless of the bike.

the bike is not as important as the engine(yourself) but still, you have to have one thats reliable and sutch. having bike problems durring a race really sucks.
