I have a new Cateye model CC-HR200DW. It worked fine the first time I used it but on its second outing today the heart rate monitor packed up after about 20 mins. :( :( :( Eventually the constant beeping it was doing drove me mad so I took off the heart rate transmitter/sensor for the rest of the ride. All the functions seem to be working OK apart from the HR part. Testing it at home afterwards it either doesn't pick up my resting heart beat at all or seems to read a really low number (hence the annoying beeping alarm I subsequently realized - it was warning me that I was about to die as it thought my heart was beating at about 20 bbm!) I've read the manual cover to cover a couple of times and can't seem to get it working correctly. Any ideas anyone? Has anyone had similar problems and managed to sort it out?

I had mine on my old road bike.
Did exactly what it was supposed to for a full summer on one battery.

No idea about your problem tho -- sorry.

Only problem I had with my mity8 was that I accidentally knocked it out of the bracket onto the road, and never found it. Other than that it was very reliable.

My Mity8 has been acting up. It'll just stop picking up a signal from the sensor every now and then. I tried to readjust everything, but that didn't seem to do anything. I've found that if I give it a swift jab, it'll pick right up where it was. I guess if it keeps on giving me problems, I'll just have to upgrade. :)

Hilary, I am with mine for 6 months and the HR part has not failed yet. On the tandem I have been using the CC-HB 100 for 12 years and it is still on. Keep us informed. Cheers

I've been running the same Cateye Mity since about 1992 with no problems. I have to change the battery about every 3-4 years or so.

I had two different wireless cateye w/cadence, and the first worked great for about a year until one of the rails on the back of the unit broke off making it unmountable. The second one never worked right -- always drained batteries after a couple rides. I got ride of them and got the Garmin 305 instead, which I just love.

coat the metal contacts on the back of your cyclocomputer and on the mount with some petroleum jelly

works wonders for me, as it keeps water out and prevents corrosion

Thanks! Will give it a try and report back. I had stopped using it as it was driving me mad!
