Since there is much talk about the WTC and this is a bike site, thought some of you may want to read this cyclist's story relating to the horrible events that just occurred.

Thanks Riderx, we in Australia have watched the events in your country with disbelief, horror and tears in our eyes. Our hearts go out to you all.
The story was very moving and a great read. It is hard to imagine watching it live.
My wife knows a womans whose husband was in the WTC as a tourist at the time, so this tragedy has touched many people around the world in some small way.
But we cannot begin to feel the same way as Americans do. Even now it still seems like a bad movie.
Take care and I hope you all find solace in your families and own heart.

Thank you both for the posting and the expression of sympathy. One of my cousins worked on the 41st floor of the WTC and fortunately was late for work that morning. One of my friends, who is in charge of security at the San Diego Zoo, had to direct an evacuation of the entire facility in response to a [false] bomb threat. We have had many visible patriotic displays in my community, and I find myself automatically selecting my blatantly red-white-and-blue Schwinn mountain bike whenever I go cycling. On a deeper level, I try to think about how to behave/respond, either as an airline passenger or as a citizen anywhere, when facing terrorism. The current paradigm for war knows no boundaries, and there are no civilians.

One thing about this tragedy, unlike Pearl Harbor, was that it was witnessed live by so many people.

One of my friends' brothers-in-law worked in the WTC. He was off that day. :cry:

This is hard.
