On Friday, I was riding my bicycle down a 3 lane road and was in the middle of the far right lane. I was doing 31 mph in a 35 mph zone. There were 2 cars behind me to turn right. There was a car in the far left lane and he decides all of a sudden the make a right turn. He pulls all the way across the road, right into me. Luckily, I saw him coming at me and I jumped off my bike, went forward and landed as if I was doing a push-up. It broke my little finger, tons of road rash just my right arm, and dislocated my left shoulder. I have no other injuries. When I jumped, the car ran right over my bicycle and totally destroyed it. That's a new bicycle for me!
Thank God for my full fingered gloves!!! They were almost completely worn down at the finger tips. If I had been wearing the cut-offs, I wouldn't be typing this today!
Good grief! Thank God for your quick reactions! Glad you're okay.
One of my biggest fears. Great reactions (Well maybe not great, great would be bunny hopping over the car. Good though:)). Let me ask, were you wearing a helmet? I only ask because I am one of those guys who only wears one when I expect to be in traffic.

Definitely! I never ride without a helmet. The helmet saved me. I do have 2 red spots on my eyebrows where the helmet impacted. I even ride with a helmet when I do tours out in no-man land. You never know if you might have a blow-out, an animal jump out all of a sudden, or a strong cross wind turns you over!

I'm glad to see you survived that one. If you had the chance to get the guy's number (difficult under those circumstances) it might be advisable to call the cops and file a report about this tosser.
As I get older, I’m starting to realize that helmets = good. If he did stop, or is caught, his insurance should get you a new shiny bike.

Glad to hear you're not more seriously hurt. Sorry about that and the destroyed bike. What was it? A Colnago with full Campy Record? Or is that what you told the insurance company it was? j/k
Glad you're o.k. (relatively speaking) and you get to buy a new bike now!

Glad to hear you are okay. I'd file a report about this one, you should be able to claim everything... new bike, new riding gear etc. Drill this tosser.

Holy crap!!! That's scary. Glad you're o.k. ...relatively speaking of course. Its sounds like due to the severity of the accident the police became/are involved?
Heal fully and completely before getting back in the saddle though. Don't rush it.
As for the driver, What a stupid @#$%^&*!

Glad to hear the injuries will heal. What a jerk driver. I fear them everyday. Get well soon and I hope you got ID on teh car. I am glad I am a car nut, because I recognize most car brands. I will take a note of any suspicious situation before it happens, trying to know the car color, brand, and a few numbers off the license plate.
