hello ...

I’m a retired VW Mechanic (EFI forced me out) & HP3000 computer programmer (who knew troubleshooting a multi-carbureted engines was so similar to De-Bugging a program ?) … spent 30+ years commuting with a Bike, later Mass Transit & Bike … I still ride a little & tinker a lot, my current project is an Electric Assist '50s Trike .

wat I really want to say is:

February, 1997 my friend Jan Gennerich fell over of a massive coronary in the hills of San Anselmo, CA … just him & his bike .

He was in the morgue for 2 weeks as "John Doe", he dint have his ID with him .

I’ll use this Introduction to suggest folks take ID/contact info on rides ...
mine is taped under my saddle .

I am very sorry to hear of your friend's death. How terrible for his family and friends not to know of his fate for that two weeks.

Yours is a good and timely reminder to all of us.

There is a 'Wall of Rememberance' thread, where your friend can be remembered.

Thank you,

East Hill, it could be that no one was looking for him.
I don't work, am not particularly close to my family, and while I do have friends there are times when I don't see them for two weeks. Ironically, it would likely be my ex who would find it odd that I did not return calls or e-mails (we still own real estate jointly).
I have his number as ICE on my cell and I carry personal ID and copies of my medical insurance cards in my seat bag.

Zencentury, that could be true. I would be in much the same position as you if my husband were not around, as all my relatives are either in the UK, or in California.

So, it is an extremely good reminder to have ID in seat bag, under saddle, and ICE on the mobile.
