Mountain Biking - WTB Weirwolfs

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Does anyone have experience with these tires? I like the WTB Weirwolfs (2.5) look but how do they handle? I am also considering the new Panaracer Fire FR tire (2.4), anyone have these? thanks:confused:
I own the WTB Velociraptors and love them! These babies have improved my riding sooooo much its unbelieveable.
I've ridden the 2.5 Weirwolfs before. It's the widest tire I've ridden as of yet, so I don't really have any other similarly sized tires to compare it to, but from what I could see it pedaled reasonably well for a 2.5 inch tire, and cornered awesome on loose stuff. On hardpack it wouldn't really be an ideal choice, but overall I think it's a solid choice, especially considering the price.
just got one a few weeks ago. Fantastic tyre! I have found that slightly lower pressure works better (28psi instead of 30 in my old Tioga Factory DH 2.1s). They can drift a little at times but it is very controllable and doesn't seem to just 'let go'. Only marginally wider than the Tioga 2.1. A bit sketchy on pavement. Terrain here is very loose and dry.
I actually have a question regarding these tires.. I won the WeirWolf 2.1 and I really don't know anything about these tires.. On the WTB website they say they are UST but I can't see anything on the tire that indicates this... The tag doesn't reference this and WTB has not replied to an email I sent them, can anyone shed some light on this for me??
Thanks
To my knowledge that tire isn't made in a UST version, but if it is, someone hook me up with a link so I can buy one!!
There's a difference between UST "compatibility" and a true UST tire. There are tires which can be mounted on UST rims, but not run in true UST format. The bead is simply designed differently.
Jim311,

UST TUBELESS........
But like I asked. I don't know anything about these tires other than what is on their site.... How are you running them?? and what types of conditions have you been using them??

I have the 2.5s and love them. Grip is great, float is great (through mud/snow/tundra) and if you ever need to ride on the paved trails for a second, they sound like you are driving a motorcycle. :)
The only drawback so far, is that on pavement with sharp corners, they do not feel very stable, but off trail, there is nothing to complain about. go for it.
