well i've been cycling since april i think. Can't remember when the snow finally melted. Since then i've been cycling on a pretty good training schdule, and this past weekend i put it two the test with my 1st road bike race. Big event too. Saturday was a 8km time trial. Basically up a hill down a hill and back again. I finished middle of the pack. The next day it was a 31km hill climb.

That link is the cross map, and elevation chart. The race happend at mount chokai. in Akita-ken japan. The race didn't end at the mount top, just somewhere halfway up.....i'm not sure. Once again i finished middle of the pack.

those are the winning times for each stage and total time.
my standings were, time trial overall 153 out of 250, but 18 out of 50 in my group, and 2nd stage total 1:39 , 37 out of 50, and overall 253 out of 456. Yeah more people opted to just do the hill climb.
My mindset when i raced was just to beat the time limits. You had 2:30 to finish the race. well, 1:10 to make the 17km mark, 2:00 to make 20km, and 2:30 to make the full 31km.
I saw a ton of expensive and amazing bikes there.(though i've come to hate those people who had triple cranks.) At the end of the race the only thing i really thought about was revamping my training routine, did even think about upgrading my bike at all.
so hopefully next year, my work contact ending and all, i'll be able to race one more time before i head back to the states.
cheers
