Met a Personal Goal

Due to some home circumstances, I haven't been able to get out on any even medium length rides much this season. I have done a lot of 20 milers, which have added up to about 150 miles per week, but few longer rides.

Today, it worked out that I could get out a bit longer. There is a state park at the very end of our local trail. I had never actually taken the road into the state park (Castlewood Canyon) for a variety of reasons, but today it all worked out. Yeah, after a moderate 2 mile climb, there was the entrance - Castlewood Canyon State Park."

Whoopee!!

Not a very significant accomplishment, but sometimes something like that just makes one's day. 39.8 miles.

Sounds like you're having a year something like mine. Oh well, we're riding anyhow.

Goals are there to be met- Halfway in some cases but in your case to be done and Dusted

Well done and How are the legs- and the butt- and the forearms and the high you must be on.

Oh - everything is fine. I could have ridden more.

I'd be happy with ~40 miles in a single day. Good job, I'd say

Beautiful scenery! It's places like this that make riding fun.

Good for you.

I also have not gotten many long rides this summer but this weekend managed two of 37 miles so I felt good about that. My legs felt it though. This year has been tough to get miles but I am not obsessing about it. As long as I feel good riding and my weight stays down I am happy even if I don't get 400 miles/month.

It feels really good to make a set goal. I'm on track to meet all my 2007 road bike goals:
1) Improve hill climbing ability - a bit subjective but you know when you suck on the hills
2) Not bonk on a 60+ mile ride with better riders
3) 3,500 miles for the year
