We were all sorry to have to leave a very enjoyable weekend for family and friend, cyclist and non. Asia and Travis showed us a great time and both were extremely hospitable. The riding was excellent: few cars and some wonderful vistas and terrain. And the food and water were very relaxing in the heat. My family and I will be definitely attending again in the future if we didn't overstay our welcome. And you all should too. You will not be disappointed.

Let me start off by saying what I told Mark in a private email :) sorry Mark. I am so very grateful to have stumbled across Bikeforums. It has connected me and my family to some extraordinary people ie. Mark and his family. The weekend was another scorcher in the valley of fire as usual. Since Mark and his family would be arriving after dark we set up some tents for them in the valley of fire Friday evening. So we didn't meet up with the family until ride time Saturday morning. Mark brought along his fabulous wife Tammy and 3 of his 5 children: Timothy, AJ and his youngest Steven. I think there were 16 - 18 riders that showed up. Tammy along with her son Steven and another lady who didn't ride ( I know I'm messing up her name ) Boya drove SAG. You would think those 2 were professionals. They were running that SAG vehicle like it was an everyday thing. They were accomadating 2 and 3 people at a time. Water in one hand, gatorade in the other, cookies not far behind, ice chips if you wanted them and Tammy was simultaneouly keeping her eye on Steven the young mountain climber. I told both of them that they were hired for all of our events. Big shout out to Marks 2 kids that rode (AJ and Tim). This ride isn't easy yet they hung in there.....actually they were ahead of most of us.

The Valley of Fire really lived up to its name this weekend . . . man, it was HOT. I think what kept me going were the sweet thoughts of the cool water awaiting us after the ride. To those of you heat weenies that didn't come out for the weekend extravaganza, all I can say is you missed a fabulous time. Not only is the VOF one of the most beautiful places to ride (no traffic and great roads), but Asia and Travis were spectacular hosts (as always) and our SAG drivers provided first rate support. It was very comforting in the heat to know that the white Armada was either close behind or waiting at the top of the next climb!
It was great to meet new people, such as Mark and Tammy and their sons (thanks for dropping me on the homestretch, AJ :p ), Sonia and Tibari, Kara (you did great on Mouse's Tank), Frank and his wife, Ken and Fast Eddie (yep, he's fast). The kids had a great time trying out the wakeboard, tubing and riding on the jetskiis, and we all enjoyed just floating around in the cool water chit chatting and listening to music. Hollywood is no longer a wakeboarding virgin, and Jorge finally passed the fluke-factor test by getting up on the board twice in a row. I'm still sore today from all of the wakeboarding, but it was soooo worth it. :D I just couldn't imagine a better way to spend a weekend than riding and playing with this great bunch of people. Thank you Asia and Travis!!
