I have a 95 Yeti ARS wit XTR and Kooka components. The problem I have is that I would like to get a more modern fork, the Judy elastomers are shot (hard to find new ones and speed springs aren't a great alternative...don't mention Air Englund :crash: ). The problem is the steerer is 1 1/4 inch  , this could be easily overcome except that I do not want to get rid of the very trick Kooka stem :D Anyone have a good suggestion on how to keep this bike in service without tossing out the cool components
Thanks

Yes problem solvers headset reducers. You can run a current steer tube diameter with your 1 1/4" headset. Most any LBS can get them easily if not already in stock.

It is a headset reducer not a steertube reducer. This way you can keep the stem. There are also stem shims, but I to it for granted he might know that. Apparently i was wrong. Maybe you should have suggested it tFUnK.

Hey all,
I have not heard of a shim available for 1.25 to 1.eight, I know they are available 1.eight to 1. The Kooka stem is for a 1.25 steerer.
I have considered trading out the legs of a new fork, but they are not compatible with the older mounting system. A friend sugested hanging the bike on the wall as art!

Chris King makes reducer headsets.

Gotta give up the Kooka stem and get a new one (even though Kooka is out of business). Cambria might have some.

Get a Race Face Diablous stem. They are beefier than the Kooka methinks. My buddy Justin has a Kooka stem and it's definately a good bit more flexy than the Diablous.

You can use a seatpost shim to go from 32. to 28. they ar evirtualy identical to stem shims you may have to modify it some but it will still work.
