I recently bought a Raleigh Cadent 2.0. Large frame, long wheel base, relaxed geometry. Raleigh website refers to it as a performance hybrid. is this a bike that would work for touring. i am planning on doing seattle to portland (200 miles in 2 days) next july. but that is a completely supported ride with many stops and support vehicles. i would also like to bike around the olympic peninsula of washington state next year... closer to 300 miles spread over a few days....

thank you in advance for any input you might have for this 50 year old recent returnee to cycling.

be,

jim

Sure, that's a nice bike! Sheldon Brown has one and reviews it here (http://sheldonbrown.org/raleigh-cadent/). For the Seattle-to-Portland supported tour it's ideal. For loaded touring, just keep the load light -- it's not designed to be a pack mule. Have fun with this!
