I want to get out of my car and commute to Waltham MA via commuter rail and bicycle. I would like to find some place near Back Bay Station in Boston to store my bike so I can get it after I arrive in Boston on the train. Any suggestions? I'd rather avoid buying a folding bike right now (for finanical reasons....am open to it in theory). Thanks so much. I'd be hopping on the bike and riding out to Waltham. T.

why not just bring your bike on the commuter rail? so long as your commute isn't inbound rush hour, you should be able to bring a conventional bike onboard without problem. No need for a folder. Friend of mine takes his Bianchi to Pawtucket, RI from Cambridge all the time.

I need to go in during rush hour. For some inexplicable reason, my company isn't open to flextime options. But thanks for responding, anyway.

I thought that you were talking about commuting out to a workplace in Waltham from Boston as opposed to commuting from Waltham to Boston.

The closest place I can think of is a bike rack right across Dartmouth St. from Back Bay Station, just outside the entrance to the Copley Mall. It is, of course, a public bike rack on a public street, so it's not terribly secure. If you want something a little more out of sight, then you could check in on various parking garages. Many Boston ones might have an indoor rack (particularly if the garage is in the basement of an office building)

Yes - I am thinking that this may be my best bet...but I am hoping to find someone who may be able to rent me some space so that I can put my bike behind a locked door. Its just too expensive to even risk locking to a bike rack. I may just have to bite the bullet and buy a folding bike. And sorry for the confusing post. Thanks for your reply.
