I have had my eye on a Ridley X-Fire but that frame does not have any bottle cage bosses. I realize they probably don't have them for shouldering, but I am not pro and I like/need water. What is the best way to add a cage on the frame???? Or other alternative ideas?

you can buy or make your own clamps for the downtube or you can get bottle cages that attach to the back of your seatpost.

alternative ideas: carry a bottle in your jersey pocket or bag or wear a camelback.

Welcome to the world of RIDLEY ownership. Watch the sizing as well.

Oh yes. Sizing…….. I just made that mistake. I ride a systemSix 56 so not knowing I ordered a 56 X-Fire and man that think was huge. I don’t think Wilt Chamberlain could ride it. So I just ordered a 52. I hope that fits. What else should I know about Ridley?

I use this on an old cross frame and am very happy with it.

I know you can get bottle bosses riveted into metal frames.. not sure about carbon. Couldn't hurt to ask around.. maybe get in touch with the folks at cyclocrossworld.com and ask for advice?

And yeah, the Ridley frames do fit really big. I was checking them out last year and I was amazed at how gigantic they felt.

Use the seat tube to figure size on a Ridley. The "54" has a 58 seat tube.

That is the trick.. I am rolling with a 52 which has a 56 seat tube.
