Foo - USAZorro, Squigeeboo, Tude and the LaborDay ride (with BALL)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Let me just say -- BALL has gotten around Rochester - including the Labor Day ride (oh yeah and saw a parade too).
Met up with Zorro and rode over to TSL (sorry I still know him as Brucew on another forum we're on).

TSL couldn't go, so we rode off. I'm sure Zorro enjoyed the city ride dodging the more than occasional pothole ... and me - "oops, we really needed to go that way, no biggee we'll just turn here ...". We were on a mission to go to the trail they just completed - but on the way we biked across a couple of walkways that spanned the gorge (fun windy ride down with a windy climb back up) - entered the other side of the street park entrance (another nice climb outta there) - that overlooked the lower falls.

and had then I pointed out this weird "statue" that was of four black oblilisks - with human figures emerging - truly the inspiration came from a horror film!
http://img38.picoodle.com/img/img38/9/9/4/f_Wierdm_6f0982f.jpg
- then climbed back up and took a spin down to the park behind the zoo (normally I hear all sorts of grunting - or howling back there but the animals were quiet yesterday - although there was quite a lively party going on in the park ...).
And off again --- then got a call from Squigee! Back from flying and so we waited for him to catch up ... and he looked different! Lost the beard! So back on the road we sped down the street and hopped over to the trail that led down a quiet path - then down to "canoe launch" - nice coasting ride down a long paved path to a more than a mile of a planked bridge across marsh/wetlands that were part of the river (those pics are attached). Ended up at the end of the river/entrance to Lake Ontario. Stopped for water and a quick adjustment on my bike and VOILA - more pics - couldn't turn up a wooden pelican! (oh yeah, and I, as usual, have my mouth open explaining camera to hostess...).

Rode up the coast aways
http://img26.picoodle.com/img/img26/9/9/4/f_LakeOntariom_2c4eac4.jpg
and turned around as Zorro had to leave sometime to drive home --- but not before we got beach pics with BALL!

Oh yeah, hehe, when we were first looking for an entrance out onto the beach -- I saw (and alerted my comrades much to their distaste I'm sure) a skinny older man in a teensy weensy speedo. It was hard, but I got his pic.

Back in the city and Squigee rode with Zorro back down to drop him at a crossroad so he could ride "home".
Oh yes, and I wore my favorite riding top. Raspberry sherbet PINK.

hehe. BALL abuse!!
Zorro tries to throw it to it's death into the wild river, SquigeeBoo tries to bite it -- and I must admit have given it a mighty kick here and there ... accidently of course! :D

I stuffed it into the center pocket of my jersey, suffocated in a plastic bag, and then subjected it to repeated gas attacks for over 30 miles. :p

But you were going to resuscitate it, decontaminate it, and give it gingerbread aromatherapy last night. Remember? :D

awww, you guys look like you had oodles of fun, I am sorry I missed it (no, Zorro, you didn't scare me off!) I just jumped at the opportunity to spend time with my niece and help my sister move into her new house, no time for riding. I am super psyched that the ball is getting great milage, though!

You could have given us an address, and we would have brought you bagels. Tell her about meeting Bagel, Squegeeboo. :D

Will do boss.
So on Sunday, while playing some Ultimate pick-up, this guy showed up with this awesome dog named Bagel. Best dog I've seen in a while, layed back, friendly, and a great name, didn't go well with cream cheese though, maybe next time.

You made it feel right at home! You should see what my kids and dog do to ball.
lol...you guys would have had quite a ride (albeit a very pretty one) We were way the hell down in Livonia, right on the lake. Would you have brought me bagels of the tasty bread variety, or Bagels of the wonderfully fluffy and fetching variety?

We're signing it too -- packing it up with with it's own sharpie markers. :)

Well bringing the later would require theft, so I assume it would have been the first.

Going to Livonia, and saying you're in Rochester, is like going to Yosemite, and saying you're in San Francisco. :p :D
If we'd have known, we would have headed south instead. :)

I was never really any good at directions/distance :p I WAS in Rochester late Friday night and late last night/this morning for my flights!
Sorry I missed riding with y'all. I already had plans to help get my nephew on to two wheels. His parents have been trying for four years. In about ten minutes yesterday we achieved liftoff. Obviously, he hated it.

They're planning on a leaf peeping ride from Spencerport to Letchworth, or some place there-bouts in a couple weeks. You can take my place on that one. :)

That or Scottsville. Scottsville would make it 65 miles R/T, plus whatever in-park riding we do. Spencerport would put us in the full century area including park riding. I kinda draw the line at five hours saddle time, which at my speeds, is the metric.
Planning on Monday October 8, BTW. A friend and I always do long rides on school holidays. I thought we'd ask others to join us this time.

Check out Map #322 "Higher Education Tour" starts out at MCC. 80 mi. Map says "pretty flat" - calendar says "rolling" hehe, so much for get this all straightened out this year.
#10 "Ten Parks Tour" sounds interesting. 58 miles, varied terrain - starts Cobbs Hill.
But they're not the ones I'm thinking of - did it two years ago (so it may not be on this year's schedule sol the map won't be on the CD) - but it was a nice metric - took off from MCC Brighton I believe - went east - had a nice ride along Oatka creek - and ended up with some killer hills somewhere by RIT (gotta love those darn map writers who stick those things on in the end). Anyway - it was a nice ride.
Still have the pedals on "Butter" yet - yer just forcing me to keep them on the roadbike aren't you :D

Uhh... what's the (hi)story of the BALL?
Uhh... what's the (hi)story of the BALL?
Jsherr shed off four Balls (:D knew I'd grab yer attention on that) - and mailed them to EBOO who kept one and mailed out the other three (little nerfy balls btw) to volunteers across the country who wanted to host the ball. I have Yellow/blue ball which had some fun here this week riding around. And a few Foo peeps signed it too. Plus it's been barhopping, riding, etc. :)
From here this one is going to Atlanta, GA to be (abused) by Sif (or RoadFrog on another forum).
NeCro632 has the Red/Blue ball - and it toured SanFrancisco.

Yup. Butter doesn't bust yer ribs like your MTB does. Just watching out for ya!
Speaking of busted ribs, we did the Ten Parks Tour over Memorial Day. You missed it on account of your busted ribs. See why I'm trying to keep you on Butter?
I've gone official and all with this ride. See http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=340602
