Introductions - Hello from a UK LEO cyclist!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings to all here!
I'm a recreational cyclist, aged 48, who delights in day tours on my Trek 1400. I have also taken longer holidays on my Dawes Super Galaxy.
I am a veteran police officer with 28 years' service. I'm currently in a sedentary assignment. That - and my love for red wine, good food and fine whisky - has led to me being (ahem!) dimensionally-challenged......
Other hobbies include walking, knife collecting, outdoor pursuits, reading, photography, surfing the Web and generally pleasing my own self.
I am delighted to be able to join a forum of cyclists, because - after almost 29 years as an LEO - my opinion of the human race is pretty low. Cyclists, however, tend to be a great bunch irrespective of race, beliefs and origin.
Slainte mhath!

Welcome maximus :) Hope you enjoy the forums, look forward to your input
Yes, welcome!
Ahem... btw... if you're leading the lifestyle of the sedentary and growing exponentially, then you aren't dimensionally-challenged. I'd think you were dimensionally-unchallenged... :D

Welcome! You’re the first BFC member that I’ve found here.

Hi, Michael!
We lads and our expensive hobbies! Unfortunately I have champagne tastes on a beer income, so neither top-end bikes or cutlery are on the agenda....
Here's a pic of the 2001 Trek 1400 I do most of my riding on:

I also own a superb old Dawes Super Galaxy purpose-built tourer. I've done two tours on it so far; one along the Norfolk coast, the other from end-to-end of the Outer Hebrides with my wife. Ahh, great days.
On the BFC side, I'm up to a BG42 Sebenza, BM 710 HSSR, Spydie Delica SS, CUDA Talonite EDC & a few other bits and bobs. How about you? Make me jealous!

I ride a 2002 Trek 1200. I haven’t purchased any new knives in a year or so. Bought 6 BM 42 pre-production Balisongs.
Best ride this year, Ride across Indiana. 158 miles one way, one day.
Oh, and a Benchmade Mini AFCK I got my daughter for her birthday. Daddy’s little girl caries something sharp.:D

158 miles! Wow! The best I've ever managed was 65.5 a few months ago on a boring afternoon. Two weekends ago I did 60 miles one afternoon, then 17 miles in 64 minutes the next day.
I am "Circumferentially-Challenged" (6 feet tall, 205lbs), but I believe I'm pretty fit. Some of the people where I work look a lot slimmer than me, but would need to take a nap if they drove 60 miles!
It's a wonderful hobby: the wind in your hair, the scent of flowers, the communion between man and finely-tuned machine.... I love it.
I've bought my wife a Spyderco Pride (street-legal under our cretinous laws :irritated); also a BM Mini-Griptilain in purple, her favourite colour. The only hassle is trying to get her to carry/remember/use them....
