I was reading a post on here one day last week, and it got me to thinking...

I have Ti spindle pedals and the are threaded into Al treads on my carbon crank

do i need to put down anti-seize on the Ti spindle or not? right now it has a layer of a Li free grease, b/c i do not have any anti-seize right now and i have heard that you need to put it on Ti bolt

if i need anti-seize, do i need to get ALL the grease out of the thread before i use the anti-seize?

pedals: Time Challenge Pro, Ti spindle
crank: FSA carbon, threads look like they are Al

Yes, I use anti-sieze on ANYTHING Ti. I wouldn't worry too much about getting ALL the grease off, just wipe it well and then apply the anit-sieze.

Titanium uses a different type of Anti-Seize. The "regular" version is meant for steel and aluminum.

so if there is different kinds of anti-sieze, then i need the kind of Ti? or the kind of Al?
is this something my LBS might have? or is it a hardware store purchase?

Go to a good bike shop. Hardware clerk don't know anything about titanium.

I use Finish Line Ti-prep. Most decent bike shops will carry it.

I had a cold chill when I renovated my 1974 model Teledyne with CP ti tubing.
It had hung from the joists in the basement from '79 til '97. I had to swap out the seat post for one that would rotate forward and got to thinking about 20yrs of same seatpost.... I was rather surprised when it rotated out without any protest or evidence of binding. Maybe the anodization prevented problems. Steve
