I haven't seen any threads here about the titec restructuring so I thought I would post a thread. Initial reports were of a closure but fortunately that is not coming to fruition. Here is the article.

Sucks for for the 4 let go! Sounds like they decided to sidestep the US office anyways and deal direct once the relationships were established. Good thing I don't own any Titec Products nor intend to!

I do have some Titec products... "Big Al" stem and "Shorty" barends. They came OEM with the bike. I didn't much care for the stem. It was too long (120mm), had too low a rise (0 deg) and was ugly-looking. I replaced it with a RaceFace SYStem (100mm/+5 deg). Why the bike didn't get originally spec'ed with an RF stem in the first place is beyond me since it came OEMed with a whole bunch of high-end RF stuff elsewhere. I'm waiting to put a few more gouges and scratches into my barends before replacing them. They're okay for now but something about the upper bend annoys me (not enough section there and I'd rather have straight sections than a curve I think) so I might be looking for something with a different shape. In light of Titec's current business practice, maybe I'll swap them out sooner. ;)

See I've always liked titec's stuff, granted not as chi chi as RF and others but it always got the job done without any issues. It's sad that they have to be a corp. type and do what they did, lets hope it's for the best and maybe things will turn around. :(

I liked their prices and the hellbent handlebars. Otherwise nothing of theirs really interested me. RaceFace and FSA fan here :)

What about a new seatpost? that cheap stuff you keep buying isn't going to cut it with your phat arse on it all the time! :D So did you ever get a new one?

No still don't have one. No fricken money. Just bought new glasses and sunglasses (prescription) so I am still dealing with a bent post.

Besides I am going to get a thompson. I found a really cheap dealer in North Van :)...

To be honest, if the Titec stem (as ugly as it was to me) that came with the bike had fit me in the first place, I probably would not have replaced it. Titec doesn't get me excited so when I went shopping for a new stem, I figured I may as well spring for something nicer. The barends are not something I'm thrilled with either. I just haven't taken the time to shop for new ones and these will do for now although I'm tempted to steal the Onza barends that came OEM on wife's bike from her handlebars. ;)
