So what's the deal with these pedals? I've never heard of them...are they new?? Would these be good for a road bike? Trying to decide what to put on my roadie in the near future.

I don't know for sure, but I'll post a review as soon as I get them!
I think they're meant more for a commuting/cyclocross application, with the larger pedal area, it should work well for on/off bike transitions...

I know a lot of ppl are using regular egg-beaters on roadies. Sounds like the extra platform on these would make them even better for road use. Hell I dunno...I'm still using stupid toe-clips.

I'm using them on the road - I started with them on my MTB and loved them, added them on my road, and they seem great. Light, although the "eggbeater" might stir up the air too much for the uber-road guys. I think they work great, and am going to put them on my cross bike when I get it in a couple of weeks.
Having the same pedal on everything is kinda nice!

standard egg-beaters rock on road bikes, but you are right HuckMeat the hardcore biker guy may not like that there is extra drag. But on the flip side the more expensive pedals are way lighter than most other road pedals.

I run the standard egg-beaters on my MTB and love 'em. My only problem is I find myself unclipping during "hairy" sections of the trail just from years of flat/toe clip riding. The candy's look awesome. I can't wait to try 'em out.

I just got my Candies yesterday... They look sweet and feel amazing; they really put the power down! Unfortunately, they are a beast to get clipped into. Maybe with a little more practice and some time to break in, it'll get better. They are still a great buy, and since I got them for only 75$ new (retail is 140$) I am completely satisfied!
