Hi everyone, I have a set of Shimano Deore LX rims from 1994, and I'm trying to put Nimbus EX (26 x 1.50) tires on them. I got the rear tire on ok, but the front one is giving me a lot of trouble.
One side of the bead goes on fine, but I can't get the bead on the other half seated. I snapped a tire lever trying to pull the bead onto the rim. Does anyone have some ideas? Thanks.
When you have the first bead on, the tube in and most of the second bead on, work your way around the wheel pushing the already mounted parts into the center of the rim. This usually will give you enough slack to get the final part of the bead on.

Also, spray some water with a drop of dish soap on the bead. That will also help seat the bead when you inflate the tire.
