Some pictures of Swifts that I've noticed on this site have a T-bar attached to the stem riser and on it a handlebar bag (eg. Carradice or Topeak, etc.). One of the benefits of the T-bar seems to me that lights on are not hidden by the handlebar. Where can I find such a T-bar? I didn't notice any on the Topeak or Carradice sites. Thank you.

I found this picture in the forum a while ago and couldn't tell which 'extender' was used. I believe the handlebar bag is Carradice. I'm interested in something similar. That is, an extender that can hold the weight of a small handlebar bag and not just a light or cycle computer. Thank you.

That was my posting. The T bar can be found on a UK cycling site www.sjscycles.co.uk (look under Lighting - Accessory fitting brackets) and comes in two sizes (as measured front to back). It fits the standard 1 1/8 steerer tubes and is lightweight but very strong. It is similar to a handlebar stem in construction but with a cross bar at the end. It is very useful. I have used it to hold lights just above the fork crown or (as at present) midway down the steerer tube to carry a bar bag. The bag in the photo is an AGU and the Rixen/Kaul bracket attaches to the T bar easily, although you will need to increase the bar's diameter with some tape or rubber packing.

A great idea that really is very useful.

Just had a thought! If you have a handlebar stem and an old handlebar or piece of metal tube you could make your own T bar!
