Ive heard about this style but ive never seen it.. Is it just an intense for of mountain biking?? What does this style entail??

Freeride is a more agro/hardcore style of XC. I think its all the same but to each their own. Most freeriders ride full suspension rigs. They do alot of jumps, hucks and drops. Freeride bikes are generally more heavier and look more beefier than XC type bikes. This is an example of a freeride bike:

Oh yeah, if you can get a hold of the Kranked or New World Disorder videos, youll get a visual understanding of what freeride is.

And a few other movies besides Kranked and NWD (I love the NWD series) is a north shore specific series called North Shore extreme. Definately shows the roots of freeriding at its best. It is also really funny seeing Wade Simmons and Dangerous dan in spandex :)

freeride is a new marketing ploy set up by the american bike manufaturers in collusion with insurance company's to extract more money from people foolish enough to buy into the concept.

Get out and ride thats freeride.
This jumping off cliffs stuf is just plain silly.
Now jumpinmg out of planes or radio masts, now theres free living

Ditto. Jumping off of cliffs is plain silly? Getting behind the wheel of a car or smoking is probably worse.

Its called "Extreme Sports" and has been around for years. Nothing new here.

I was referring to the fact that he thinks its some consipracy to extract insurance money and that the bike co's were included in the conspiracy
