So, I swore I'd never learn fire blasting because it's the single most dangerous aspect of fire performance one can do. You have a mouthful of fuel with the stream on fire...and a huge 5+ pillar of flame coming from your face. Aside from risking changes in the wind/breeze, you have fuel-fire blowback, accidental fuel or fire inhalation (resulting in chemical pneumonia), and other fun things to worry about.
Well, I went to fire blasting lessons the other night.
The pics are here (http://jezjune.ariessun.com).
My friend Jez took the shots, I'm hosting. I'll be organizing that page better in a day or two...but damn.
I'm shirtless and in black pants.
nice pics looks like you all had a lot of fun

it is kinda bad when the winds changes direction, we had a guy doing a solo burn, and the head wind got him, he lost all of his facial hair

Yeah, cOurt, that's why I waited so long to learn it...the sheer danger of blasting.
Thanks, Serendipper!

Very cool. That's how my wife and I met in a juggling club. Juggling, slack-rope walking, unicycling, fire, etc. Blowing fire is definitely one of the more dangerous things we did. However you have to be careful eating fire as well. A couple of us cracked some teeth from the heat. Now a'days we stick to juggling fire torches and swinging fire poi.
BTW, did you guys use pure kerosene?

Lamp oil.
What were you using for fuel that you cracked teeth? Were you biting down on the torches or something? I've heard of that happening once before, and never first or second hand...
EDIT: To clarify -- ultra pure lamp oil. :)

We used pure kerosene way back when blowing fire because it was slow burning. But it left a nasty taste in your mouth for a few hours afterwards. We didn't seem to mind though since the beer and nachas took care of it after our session.
Make sure you keep some of the pictures. It's great to go back thru old photos to see how insane you were. We have a few up on the walls and it makes for great conversation starters. ie: "were you crazy" :D
When eating fire we used a combination of naphtha and kerosene. The naphtha helped reduce some of the black smoke created by the kerosene. Nobody used ultra pure lamp oil back then, however from various websites it seems to be the preferred fuel choice these days ... at least for fire breathing.
ultra pure lamp oil here to, i think the other stuff has more lead.

Kerosene in your mouth? Yikes, am I missing something? I thought that stuff was bad to get on your hands.

Yep. I'm definitely not recommending it.
