Folding Bikes - Folding bike or Big Boy bike in trico case?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am flying out of town in about a month to meet some friends for a little bike vacation. :) I’ll be on my bike between 4 and 8 hours a day for four days. My friends and I are somewhat competitive with each other. I know it’s juvenile, especially for a guy who is about to qualify for the Fifty Plus forum, but everything will be a race: First one to the top of the mountain, first one down the hill, sprints, etc. My question is do you think I should bring my road bike (titanium litespeed) in a trico case, for the potential added advantage, or bring my Bike Friday Pocket Pilot, for the simple convenience of travel? ;)
Bring the one that will piss them off the most.

I know :p . Maybe I should post it in the road racing sub forum for an unbiased response :p

You should bring the Bike Friday for the potential added advantage and leave your clunky Litespeed at home. However, you'll look better coming in second place on the Litespeed than first place on the BF. (The logo is nicer on the Litespeed.)
If you lose on the Litespeed, that will be taken as you're just a bit slower, that's all.
If you lose on the BF, the bike will be roundly blamed. ("Yes that's what happens if you show up in a serious race on a toy!")
So, in the coming month, train extra hard, and take the BF. If you win, you have taught them a lesson. If you lose, you can blame the bike and they would agree. ;)
