Just sold a Boardwalk to a guy in Argentina unaware that the US Post Office no longer ships internationally by surface. The size restrictions for Priority are such that the rear wheel is too large by itself, so can't even break it down.
So far the cheapest rate I've found to get the bike to him is $800.00. Wondering if folks here might have any ideas.
Guess the powers that be decided us commoners don't need to ship outside the US. When I was checking out Birdys in Japan, it would have run about $250.00 to get one here.
The only thing I can think of is to check for shipping services in the phone book and call them up. Often shipping consolidators work with several shipping companies and get good discounts due to the volume they ship. Good luck.
Here's an example of the type of company I'm talking about. All the packages I've received from them have been shipped via DHL, although I paid much less than standard DHL prices.

Thanks for the tips.
They've got a 250lb minimum, so no go, which seems to be then norm.
Oh well...
I had a big order shipped to me from jensonUSA recently; the box measured much bigger than a rear wheel (but smaller than a bike) and shipping for that amounted to about $50. The service was UPS SAVER, but elsewhere it was described as UPD International Express. To Australia.

Thanks for the tip. However, the UPS site listed a Saver quote of $722.00 for the bike, so it seems only Air is available out of the country for non-commercial shipping. A search for UPD turned up zilch.
The fellow is being very understanding, so I'm just going to issue a refund and re-list it.
