Must you be slightly insane to do an Ironman?

To cap off a year-long cycling tour through Southeast Asia this weekend I competed in and finished the Singapore Ironman 70.3.

It was my first triathlon of this length. Coupled with the heat and rain, the distance, especially the run, pushed me to the edge of my abilities. Nearing the mid-point of the run I swore I would never again compete in a race any longer than olympic distance.

Now, a mere 96 hours after finishing, I find myself searching the web for another Ironman.

How can this be?

Sounds like me. After my HIM i was positive i would never do a full ironman....i just didnt see how it could be done. Yet a mere 24 hours later i was sitting in the pub with some of my mates that did it with me and we were trying to decide which Ironman to do next year. We decided on Wisconsin 2008 :)

same here, its an addiction....swore blind i could never do a full IM after crossing the finish line at steelhead HIM this summer, it hurt too much, and a week later i'm pondering........wisconsin :)

A key training point regarding capital events:

Do not sign up for another one, or swear off all of them, for at least a week after...

And by the way, didn't Jimmy Buffet say something like if weren't crazy, we would go insane?
