Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Mirror mirror on the ?

Okay, of you folks who use a mirror, helmet mount, glasses mount or handlebar mount?

Helmet mount, because I haven't found a glasses mount mirror that fits on the temples of Native Eyewear Nano-2 frames, or Scott ski goggles (when it's really cold.)

Handlebar mounted Mountain Mirrycle. Love it. Impossible to forget it. Does not add any weight to my glasses which already bother me, or my helmet which already bothers me too.

helmet... but every time i turn my head to look in the mirror ..... dang.

...Helmet. You can easily tilt your head to change the viewing angle to see places a fixed mirror will not, like around curves or up and down hills. I have a cycleaware mirror on both my helmets. Its sticks on with double sided tape. I also had a visor mount mirror that fell off and got lost. It worked well too, until it fell off and got lost that is.

Now the hard question Left mount, Right Mount or Both? I do need to do a little grip surgery, to get this to work.... Right now I am leaning toward the Cateye because I don't like Velcro mounts, but the ID of the handlebar will probably make that decision for me.:rolleyes:

Helmet mount. Actually, I only started using a mirror because of the integrated helmet mount on the Bell Metro. I love it though.

If you mean the added weight on the helmet from the mirror, there isn't any. Or at least there isn't any noticeable with the Bell set up. I strongly agree with the glasses issue though. I tried one a friend used just to see what it felt like, yuck.

I had a helmet mount, but the brain bucket shifts around too much to get a good view. I also tried a handlebar mounted unit, but there was too much vibration, objects were too small (wide angle), and if you happen to turn the handlebars, there goes the view.

Left mount, unless you are in England, then it'd be a right mount ;)

Actually, I read somewhere else that if you hate helmet-mounted mirrors, try it on the other side... apparently people are left-eyed or right-eyed and it makes a difference! Haven't tried it, though.

My first ever mirror (bought when I bought my first bike) was a Take-A-Look eyeglass mounted mirror and I HATED it. I had the same problems as you mention for the helmet mounted mirror. I found I was having to crook my neck and do crazy things to get right angle in mirror every time because it shifted around. It ended up taking my eyes off road so bad, it was worse than just turning around to look, so I ditched it.

I went without mirrors for a few years until recently mounted a handlebar mount mirror and prefer it much, much better.

I bought a bar end mount for my road bike. It is round and I can't tell any difference with it on or off the bike. I thought about a helmet mount, but talked to many people that didn't like the helmet mount. I have mine adjusted so I can see whether I am in a tuck or just crusing.

+1 Mirrycle bar end mounted mirror. Highly adjustable, very stable (vibration minimal to nil).

On my recumbent, bar end mirror vibration was a problem. This is probably due to the extended length of the handlebars typical of many bents.

The Take-a-Look works well on my sunglasses with fairly wide bows. Never tried it on my metal framed (minimal) prescription glasses.

Used it for the first time today and I like it. It gives a pretty good field of view but objects are larger than they appear. ;)

Been running a helmet-mounted for a couple weeks now. It adds zero discernible weight. Now I can't imagine riding without one.
