But she keeps hammering at me for these tires and I feel my resolve breaking. Are they good tires? Or are they just too OCP to be real? :o

I will admit, though, that if you want to keep them as white as your bar tape (which is easy to keep "as new"), it will take Simple Green after almost every ride. I did that for about a month. Now, I almost never clean them. They stay pretty white, unless you compare them to your sparkling white bar tape, in which case they seem a little dingy.

Now, "tit for tat" only seems fair on the legs picture. :)

i had a pair of blue rubino pros and they lasted me all of maybe 250 miles before they were so pitted and full of cuts that you could see the steel mesh stuff the rubber affixes to. totally a waste of money.

I've been getting about 4000 on mine (Open Corsas, about half that). On my third set now.

ive since switched to bontrager hardcases.

The black stuff in tires (carbon) actually makes them work
better as in higher friction and longer wear.

And you can ride them after labor day.

Nothing wrong with white. They will loose there luster pretty quick, though. That said, I didn't like the Rubino Pros.
