From what I understand, they are being sued by Specialized for over $650,000 in owed money for bikes and products. But thats just the rumor.;)

Well that explains things then. I was in there a little while ago looking for a second 143mm Alias saddle to go on another bike. None in stock and when I inquired about when more might come in he said never.

from what I've heard and seen, this is about par for the course for dealers attempting to sell Specialized junk.

Of course, even when they were pushing Specialized, they still didn't know what they were talking about so they didn't get my business to begin with.

Good thing I didn't buy anything substantial from them.

I never went there. I always wanted to but never made the trek to Mountain View.

I've stopped in a few times, never was too impressed. This was the shop that put me on a carbon bike for a test-ride when I was shopping for aluminum (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=3718837&postcount=9). I went in there with some friends who were shopping around, and they didn't find anything, either.

Which is sad, because I live across the street from them.

I had positive experience with this shop. It's true that lately (around mid-to-end of June) they started to have problems with merchandize (both quantity and selection). As far as I know, this is when the s**t hit the fan and Specialized said "no more".

The shop had good mechanic and good manager. Both of them quit before the store ended up in limbo. But they also had very inexperience owner who didn't listen to other peoples' advices on how to run a bicycle business (since, to my knowledge, he had no experience whatsoever). Basically, it's owner's fault that the idea of good concept store fell apart.

I know that another Specialized concept store is suppose to open in Morgan Hill. And if this is too far, then there are Mike's Bikes in Palo Alto and Calmar Cycles in Santa Clara (that one carries a unique combination of Trek and Specialized bicycles).

I went to Calmar, and I was very dissapointed. All they had were mountain bikes, except for maybe 1 or 2 bottom of the line road bikes.

Went in today, just happened to be at the Art & Wine thing. Thought they would have killer specialized deals, but not really. Met the owner, didn't know he was an original member of mtbr.com.

Surprised they would be open with the whole Arts and Wine Festival.

Extra foot traffic even if it is not a cycling event can be a good thing. Never know who might be drinking a little too much wine and decide to plunk down some cash on something they really don't need.
