Our biking club (Crawford Co. Cycling Club) is organizing our 1st Annual Tour de Crawford County ride to benefit the United Way. It is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6th and will consist of 3 road courses throughout Crawford Co., Illinois.

There will be a 9 mile excursion that can be enjoyed by riders of all abilities. It will loop around Robinson, Illinois.

The second route covers approx 25 miles and will run to the river town of Hutsonville and back.

The final route offers a few more challenges and travels throughout the entire county. It is a 71 mile loop that takes in the towns of Hutsonville, Palestine, Flat Rock (don’t let the name fool you – there are some interesting hills), Hardenville, Oblong, and Porterville. It is beautiful countryside with excellent country roads. There will be refreshments and rest stops along the route and we will have SAG support.

For those of you in central and southern Illinois and Indiana as well as in western Kentucky, come join us for a fun ride that will benefit a worthy cause.

Applications can be downloaded at www.cccyclingclub.com or you can register at the start line.

Hope to see everyone there!

I have posted more information on this ride in the Charity Events Forum.

As of today, our webmaster hasn't put the applications and brochures on our website. However, if you email me through BikeForum, I will send you the information.

This will be a great ride for a great cause. It will be very well supported, event t-shirts are included in your registration fee for the 25 and 71 mile rides. All rides start/end at the Robinson High School on Highland Ave. in Robinson, Illinois which will also be celebrating its annual Heath Harvest Festival. The historic town of Palestine will be having its Wine and Crafts Festival on Main Street. So, bring a change of clothes and take advantage of the high school showers to clean up and enjoy the festivities!

Just wanted to post a quick reminder...it's coming up this Saturday!!! We've put forth a lot of work to make this a really good ride. T-shirts for the 25 and 71 mile riders included with registration. Post ride hamburgers and hot dogs and drinks for all riders. Heath Harvest Festival going on in Robinson. Art and Wine Festival going on in Palestine (along the 71 mile route...and only 1.5 miles away from the 25 mile route)....leave it to somebody from Louisiana to help coordinate a charity ride to include a wine festival along the route!! Routes are available for viewing at several locations. I think the best detail, where you can also get cue sheets if you want to download to a Garmin...would be at veloroutes.org ....or just email me and I'll send you a cue sheet if you're needing one.

The roads have all been marked, final plans are in order....should be a great ride. Looks like mild/warm weather forecast...mid-80's for highs, low-60's for lows. Hope to see everybody there!
